Binley Woods Village Hall
History And Management
The Hall was built by and belongs to the residents of the village. In 2005 it celebrated the
50th Anniversary of its opening. The Hall is a Charity Trust and is managed by a committee made up of members elected at
the Annual General Meeting and members nominated to represent village organisations, which regularly use the Hall.
The Hall Committee produces a newsletter three or four times a year called 'The Grapevine', which gives information about
what is going on and is delivered into every home in the village.
The Chairman is Mr P Morris s.morris@virgin.net. The Booking Secretary is Mrs
K Howes (tel 024 7654 3569).
Rooms Available For Hire
There are two rooms. The Main Hall has a stage, a recently refurbished kitchen and
adjacent seating area with tables and chairs. The other room is smaller and has coffee and tea making facilities. Both rooms
are well equipped with tables and chairs to meet the needs of hirers. There is an access ramp at the main entrance and
adapted toilet for the disabled. There is a special rate of hire for residents. Most Friday Evenings and all day Saturday
are kept free of regular bookings for casual bookings like parties, rummage sales, bazaars etc. If you wish to book
a room, PLEASE contact Mrs K Howes (tel 024 7654 3569), NOT Binley Woods On-line.
The Hall Serves The Community In Many Ways
It hosts the meetings of the Parish Council, the regular surgery of
our MP, Bill Olner and acts as Polling Station in local and general elections.
There are a number of regular weekly events. On Sundays it is the home of The Church in Binley Woods and is used during
the week for youth work. Other weekly activities include Tae Kwon Do, Keep Fit, line Dancing, Short Mat Bowls and Bingo.
There is a Parent and Toddler Group and a Dancing School holds classes there.
Monthly activities include WI Meetings, Friday Night Dances and Neighbourhood Project Coffee Mornings. Other groups
using the Hall include The Board Walkers, our local drama group for their rehearsals and productions, and the Over 60's
Group.
Rugby College uses the Hall for Educational Courses from time to time, whilst several village Organisations hold their
Annual and Extraordinary Meetings there. Find out more about the organisations using the Hall.
